Kings of War - Games 8 and 9

Game 8: Dwarves vs Salamanders

Deployment:

The Salamanders have brought a big dinosaur. This is the biggest threat in their army.

Cannon balls are raining on the horde of Salamanders Prime, forcing the army to move forward.

The Steel Behemoth peppers the skinks that were used to protect the flank of the Dinosaur.

The Dinosaur charges the Hammerers.

The trap closes as the Steel Behemoth charges the flank of the Dinosaur. Not a good time to be a Dinosaur. It takes 15+ wounds but the dwarf player (myself) rolls "double 1" for the nerve test. Fortunately, at the following turn, the beast is slained.

Result: large victory for the dwarves !

Game 9: Dwarves vs Salamanders

This time the dwarves did not bring their steel behemoth, and instead brought more fluffy options: a Greater Earth Elemental (who looks very much like an old Citadel giant) and a trio of Earth Elementals (who look very much like freemen or a wolfen).

Deployment:

View from behind the dwarf line:

The Salamander cavalry rushes to engage the left flank of the dwarves.

The Dinosaur charges the Greater Earth Elemental, while a troop of skinks charges the Smaller Earth Elementals.

And then the situation gets somewhat blocked, as the horde of Salamander Primes is blocked behind other Salamanders and cannot engage into the fights.

Sensing that it cannot win against the Dinosaur, the Greater Earth Elemental walks away from the fight (with a bit of help from the Stone Priest) and walks around the Salamander army.

The dinosaur, after killing the cannon crew, charges the Smaller Earth Elementals. But it is too late...

Result: a draw ! Which turns out to be a satisfactory outcome for the dwarf army, given that the situation looked pretty dull for them for most of the battle.

Kings of War - Games 6 and 7

Game 6: Forces of Nature vs Elves

(2000pts each)

The Green Lady has gathered her most feral beasts to hunt the elves who dared entering her realm.

Those forest lurkers have sharpened their blades... and teeth !

But the Elves have brought a dragon and load of drakes.

Forces of Nature advance relentlessly towards their foes.

Even the spider-riding forest goblin striders have answered the call to arms.

They are quickly targeted by the Elven Prince on its dragon, who are so eager to demonstrate his superiority.

Likewise, the drake riders charge the horde of Salamanders.

Meanwhile the rest of the Forces of Nature advance towards elven archers, and the battle rages.

The Great Eagle rushes to take down the crew of the ballista.

The Prince of Dragon is dangerously isolated on the edge of the battlefield, and gets engaged by the hard hitting Tree Herder and Forest Lurkers. Even the dragon cannot resist the wrath of the Nature.

Result: Victory for the Forces of Nature (my first victory against my Elven nemesis).

Game 7: Forces of Nature vs Elves

(2000pts each)

Battle lines are drawn:

Too lasy to comment this picture:

The Tree herder guides two bands of Forest Lurkers toward the archers.

The eleven knights charge the Forces of Nature.

Duel between the Elven Prince on Dragon and the Beast of Nature.

The Prince ends up winning... but it takes him so long that he cannot have any other meaningful impact on the battle.

Result: it's a draw !
