Kings of War - Games 8 and 9

Game 8: Dwarves vs Salamanders

Deployment:

The Salamanders have brought a big dinosaur. This is the biggest threat in their army.

Cannon balls are raining on the horde of Salamanders Prime, forcing the army to move forward.

The Steel Behemoth peppers the skinks that were used to protect the flank of the Dinosaur.

The Dinosaur charges the Hammerers.

The trap closes as the Steel Behemoth charges the flank of the Dinosaur. Not a good time to be a Dinosaur. It takes 15+ wounds but the dwarf player (myself) rolls "double 1" for the nerve test. Fortunately, at the following turn, the beast is slained.

Result: large victory for the dwarves !

Game 9: Dwarves vs Salamanders

This time the dwarves did not bring their steel behemoth, and instead brought more fluffy options: a Greater Earth Elemental (who looks very much like an old Citadel giant) and a trio of Earth Elementals (who look very much like freemen or a wolfen).

Deployment:

View from behind the dwarf line:

The Salamander cavalry rushes to engage the left flank of the dwarves.

The Dinosaur charges the Greater Earth Elemental, while a troop of skinks charges the Smaller Earth Elementals.

And then the situation gets somewhat blocked, as the horde of Salamander Primes is blocked behind other Salamanders and cannot engage into the fights.

Sensing that it cannot win against the Dinosaur, the Greater Earth Elemental walks away from the fight (with a bit of help from the Stone Priest) and walks around the Salamander army.

The dinosaur, after killing the cannon crew, charges the Smaller Earth Elementals. But it is too late...

Result: a draw ! Which turns out to be a satisfactory outcome for the dwarf army, given that the situation looked pretty dull for them for most of the battle.
